Veterans Day is Wednesday, November 11, 2026.¹ As of October 14, four chains have posted a 2026 free-meal offer on their own sites: Bob Evans, Chili's, Red Robin and Golden Corral. Which restaurants have confirmed free Veterans Day meals for 2026?

Four chains have 2026 offers for veterans and active-duty military on their own websites. We opened each page on October 14, 2026 and copied the terms below. Chains add offers through early November, so check the linked page again the week before.

Last verified: October 14, 2026, on each company's own page. Bob Evans lists the offer for "all Bob Evans Restaurants." The other pages do not say whether every location takes part, so call yours first.

Which chains offered free meals in 2025 but have not confirmed 2026?

Four well-known chains still showed last year's details on October 14. Treat these as likely to return, not as promised. Lists elsewhere that label 2025 offers as "2026" are repeating old terms.

We could not find a 2026 Veterans Day page for Texas Roadhouse or Olive Garden (the addresses we tried returned "not found"). Starbucks' military page described no Veterans Day offer. Ask your local store or check its app.

What do you need to show to get a free Veterans Day meal?

Bring proof of service. Each restaurant sets its own list, so read its page. Bob Evans accepts a Uniformed Services ID, a Uniformed Services Retired ID, a current Leave and Earnings Statement or a DD214. It also takes a veterans organization card such as American Legion or VFW, or a photo of you in uniform.²

VA lists three other IDs that work for veteran discounts: a Veteran Health Identification Card, a Defense Department ID, or a state driver's license or ID with a Veterans designation.¹⁰ A digital Veteran ID Card also works, but to apply you need an honorable or general discharge, a copy of your DD214 or similar paper, and a government ID.¹⁰

What if you do not have your DD214?

You can request it from the National Archives online through eVetRecs, or by mail or fax with Standard Form 180.¹¹ Online requests need an identity-verified ID.me account.¹¹ Start now, because it will not arrive by November 11 if you wait. If you apply for VA benefits, VA requests your DD214 for you.¹¹

Are Veterans Day free meals dine-in only?

Most are. Bob Evans and Chili's both say dine-in or in-restaurant only.²³ Both also exclude drinks and gratuity, and Bob Evans adds that tax may apply.² Plan to pay for a drink and to tip on the full price of the meal.

Do spouses and family members get a free meal?

Not at the four confirmed offers. Each one names the person who served: veterans and active duty at Bob Evans, Chili's and Red Robin, and anyone who has served at Golden Corral.²³⁴⁵ Family members pay for their own meals unless a local owner says otherwise.

Where can veterans get food help all year?

Start with the VA. The VA Food Security Office says VA can connect veterans with affordable food.¹² Its two-question self-screen asks if, in the past 12 months, you worried food would run out or the food you bought did not last.¹² If either was "sometimes" or "often" true, your primary care team, VA social worker or VA dietitian can help.¹²

If you are dealing with food insecurity, some VA locations also run community food gardens, produce prescription programs, food distribution events and onsite pantries.¹³ Call your local VA to ask what yours offers.¹³

Can veterans get SNAP?

Yes, if the household meets SNAP's income and resource rules. Which food pantries serve veterans?

In PantryPath's directory, 538 of 7,566 confirmed pantry listings (7%) name veterans among the groups they serve.¹⁵ The most listings are in California (60), Florida (52), Texas (36) and New York (34).¹⁵ Use pantry search to find one near you, and check hours and ID rules before you go (see what ID food pantries ask for). Applebee's has not posted 2026 terms on its Veterans Day page. The page still describes the November 11, 2025 offer, the company's 18th year of a free dine-in entrée for veterans and active duty.⁶ Check the page again in early November.

Does Chili's give free meals on Veterans Day?

Yes. Chili's lists a free meal for veterans and active military on November 11, 2026, from four menu choices, dine-in only.³

Can I get a free meal on Veterans Day with a Veteran ID Card?

Yes at businesses that accept it, but VA says the card is only for discounts. It cannot prove federal benefit eligibility or get you onto a base.¹⁰ If a restaurant refuses it, show a Veteran Health Identification Card, a Defense Department ID, a license with a Veterans designation, or your DD214.¹⁰

Are Starbucks, McDonald’s or Chick-fil-A giving free food on Veterans Day?

We could not confirm a 2026 offer from any of the three. Starbucks’ military page described no Veterans Day offer on October 14, and we did not verify McDonald’s or Chick-fil-A. Ask your local store before you go.

Does Golden Corral still hold Military Appreciation Night?

Yes. Its page lists the free buffet and beverage for Wednesday, November 11, 2026, from 4 p.m. until close.⁵

Who can I call if I cannot afford food this week?

How we checked this

On October 14, 2026 we opened each restaurant's own Veterans Day page and recorded the year, offer and terms it showed. We included an offer in the first table only if the page named November 11, 2026, and we put every chain still showing 2025 terms in the second table. We did not visit restaurants or test redemption. We did not count third-party deal lists as sources, because several still show 2025 terms.

VA, USDA and OPM pages were opened the same day. PantryPath data counts confirmed pantry listings, excluding rows with no state, where the population field contains "veteran" (queried October 14, 2026). Some state fields in the directory are malformed, so we report only the four states with clean values. We could not verify Texas Roadhouse, Olive Garden or Starbucks for 2026. Offers can change before November 11, so confirm with your local restaurant.
